The process of barley germination and drying under artificial control and external conditions is called malting. Barley is called green malt when it germinates, and malt when it is dried. The production of malt is mainly divided into four stages: 1: The selected barley is soaked in water so that the barley can absorb water and reach the requirements for germination. This stage is called soaking. According to different equipment and process requirements, there are many methods. 2: Then germinate under artificially controlled conditions, and use the enzyme system formed during the germinating process to decompose the content of barley and turn it into malt. The main purpose of barley germination is to degrade part or all of the endosperm cell wall, so that the dried malt becomes looser, easier to smash, and easier to dissolve the contents. 3: After germination, it becomes green malt, which is dried with hot air. The main purpose of drying: stop the growth of green malt and the decomposition of enzymes, remove excess water, prevent rot, and facilitate transportation. Dry the roots for easy removal and increase the color, aroma and taste of malt. 4: Then the roots of malt are removed through mechanical principles.
Malt moisturizing and crushing is an important part of craft beer production. The malt is evenly sprayed and impregnated with water at a certain temperature in the moistening device for a certain period of time. After the evenly moistened, the malt is sent to the roller mill for malt milling through the conveying device. Crushing, this process has minimal damage to the malt skin, and the wheat skin is almost complete. It can ideally achieve the requirements of malt crushing, that is, the malt skin is broken without being broken, and the content is as fine as possible, so as to effectively form a good wheat The grain filter layer ensures the smooth progress of the filtration process during filtration. The moistened malt is also suitable for different types of crusher, which facilitates the selection of suitable crusher.
The moistened malt can be transported using bucket elevators, scraper conveyors, screw conveyors, etc. To facilitate equipment installation and meet production needs, flexible conveyors are now used for transport.
